    Quick-Release Clamps for Closed Installations

Quick-release straps are designed for applications where an ordinary closed hose clip cannot easily be passed over the end of the component. Their housing can be released from the band, allowing the strap to open completely and wrap around existing ducting, pipework, posts, cables or installed equipment.

Once positioned, the housing is closed and the strap is tightened to the required diameter. This makes quick-release clamps particularly useful for installation, maintenance and repair work where dismantling the surrounding assembly would be inconvenient.

Common applications include ventilation ducting, HVAC systems, sign mounting, cable retention, temporary repairs, insulation supports and large-diameter circular or irregular fittings.

    Choose the Correct Quick-Release Design

    Jubilee® Captive Straps

Jubilee® Captive Straps use a quick-release swivel housing that locks into position once the strap has been fitted. The band can open completely, making it suitable for closed installations where a conventional clip cannot be slid into position.

Captive Straps are available in zinc-protected mild steel and 304 stainless steel. Their wider adjustment range makes them useful for ducting, sign fixing, cable retention, repairs and other general fastening work.

    Jubilee® FlipLock Straps

Jubilee® FlipLock straps use a slim 7mm-wide band and flip-lock fastening design. They are manufactured in 304 stainless steel and are intended for applications where installation space or overall weight is limited.

FlipLock straps should not be confused with the wider Jubilee Captive Strap range. Band width, fastening design, adjustment range and permitted torque differ between the two products.

    Boltza® Swivel-Housing Straps

Boltza® quick-release straps include an adjustable swivel-housing design for ducting, ventilation, sign fixing, cable retention and general fastening applications.

The W2 version uses mixed-metal construction rather than an entirely 304 stainless assembly. Check the individual product specification when corrosion resistance or material compatibility is important.

    Boltza® Lever Clamps

The range also includes reusable 304 stainless steel lever-operated clamps. Once the worm-drive mechanism has been adjusted to the required diameter, the lever allows the clamp to be released and refitted more quickly during repeated maintenance or cleaning.

Selected nominal sizes run from 50mm to 120mm with a limited adjustment tolerance around each stated diameter. These lever clamps do not provide the extremely wide adjustment range found on long captive straps.

    Material Options

    Zinc-Plated Mild Steel

Zinc-plated mild steel provides a practical and economical choice for general indoor, HVAC and protected installations. The zinc coating improves corrosion protection, but these straps are not intended for continuously wet or highly corrosive environments.

    W2 Mixed-Metal Construction

W2 clamps typically combine a corrosion-resistant band with other components made from a different protected metal. The precise component materials should be confirmed on the individual product page rather than treating W2 as an all-stainless specification.

    304 Stainless Steel

304 stainless steel provides improved resistance to moisture and general corrosion. It is suitable for many outdoor, industrial and demanding indoor installations but should not automatically be described as 316 marine-grade stainless steel.

How to Select the Correct Size

Measure the outside diameter or circumference of the installed item at the intended fastening point. The required selection method depends on the clamp design.

    • Captive and FlipLock straps: choose an adjustment range that includes the measured diameter.
    • Swivel-housing straps: check the stated minimum and maximum working diameter.
    • Lever clamps: choose the nearest nominal size and confirm that the measurement falls within its limited adjustment tolerance.

Where the product permits excess band to be removed, complete the installation and verify the fit before trimming. Leave sufficient material for secure engagement and any expected adjustment.

    Quick-Release Straps and Hose Sealing

Not every product in this category is intended to create a pressure-tight hose connection. Many quick-release straps are primarily designed for retaining ducting, signs, cables and other components.

For pressurised fluid, fuel, coolant or compressed-air systems, confirm that the selected clamp is approved for the hose, pressure and temperature involved. Use a conventional or high-torque hose clamp when the application requires a dedicated pressure-sealing clip.

    Quick-Release Versus Standard Worm-Drive Clips

A standard worm-drive clip normally remains as a closed loop during routine installation. A quick-release strap allows the band or housing to disengage so that it can be wrapped around an existing installation.

Quick-release designs save installation time in the correct application, but they do not automatically provide greater clamping force. Tightening capacity depends on the individual band, housing and screw design.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Can these clamps open completely?

Captive, FlipLock and swivel-housing straps are designed to open for positioning around closed installations. Check the operating instructions for the selected mechanism before fitting.

    Are quick-release straps reusable?

Many products in this category are reusable when correctly installed and undamaged. Inspect the band, housing, thread and lever before reuse and replace any distorted or corroded components.

Are they suitable for pressure hoses?

Not automatically. Several products are intended primarily for ducting, sign fixing and cable retention. Use them on pressure hoses only where the individual product is specifically suitable for that application.

    What torque should I use?

There is no universal torque for the category. For example, Jubilee specifies 3Nm recommended torque for its 7mm FlipLock range, while other captive, swivel and lever designs have different requirements. Follow the selected product specification.

Can I cut off excess band?

Selected long quick-release straps allow excess band to be removed after fitting. Confirm that the particular product permits trimming and leave enough band for secure engagement and future adjustment.
